About the Talk

As the world descended on Paris in December 2015 to negotiate a new future for  worldwide  carbon  emissions,  the  city  itself  was  undergoing  an  unprecedented scientific demonstration. Harris Corporation, partnering with the  French  Laboratory  of  Climate  Science  (LSCE),  Atmospheric  and  Environnmental Research (AER) and Enviroearth, deployed their Green LITE (Greenhouse  Gas  Laser  Imaging  Topography  Experiment)  system  which  provides wide--area, near--real time mapping of CO2 concentrations over 25 sq. kilometers of the city. The demonstration is ongoing and will remain on site through  2016.   This  talk  will  provide  an  overview  of  the  system,  the  initial  results, and will discuss the value of the data being produced for policy and decision makers in light of increased scrutiny of local carbon footprints.
