Andrés Espejo is a Natural Resources and Forestry Engineer working as methodology specialist for the World Bank. The last 1.5 years he has  been  working  for  the  Forest  Carbon  Partnership  Facility  (FCPF)  and the Bio Carbon Fund -- Initiative of Sustainable Forest Landscapes (ISFL) in the development of REDD+ and landscape GHG accounting  methodologies.  Previously  he  worked  for  different  private sector entities in the quantification and modeling of biomass and carbon in the Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector,  and  also  in  the  technical  assessment  of  AFOLU  carbon  offset  projects,  programs, methodologies and initiatives under different GHG programs and bilateral agreements, i.e. Afforestation /Reforestation under CDM, REDD+ initiatives, etc.

About the Talk

The  Forest  Carbon  Partnership  Facility  (FCPF),  BioCarbon  Fund  Initiative  for  Sustainable Forest Landscapes (ISFL) support over 22 countries with large scale climate--smart land--use programs and 54 countries with REDD+ readiness support or projects.  With  over  $2.3  billion  in  combined  capital,  these  funds  help  countries  implement sustainable forest management land use programs with the opportunity for  results--based  payments  for  verified  emission  reductions.  Andres  Espejo  will provide  an  overview  of  the  work  of  the  Forest  Carbon  Partnership  Facility  (FCPF),  BioCarbon Fund Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes (ISFL) and share concrete examples  of  the  current  and  emerging  needs for  the  effective  performance  monitoring of emission reductions programs under development.
